    Hey Candice

Do you still teach on Thurs, or are you just too high and mighty after the ass kicking you delivered on Oklahoma?

Max do you have any other hot sports opinions you can offend the gym with? Maybe we can discuss the death penalty, stem cell research, or euthanasia? I really don’t think people post actual wod times on here anymore anyway.

    Ronin,

Yup! I still teach the 6pm on Tuesday’s annnnnnd Thursday’s. And no, haha, with only a three second lead over the second place girl…high and mighty is out of the question. I’m just lucky.

We are supposed to post times here?

I didn’t even know this was a gym. My understanding is it’s a front for an underground porn ring.

Whisky is gonna need a fluffer around 5:30 for the next shoot.

Given Whisky’s inability to self edit (and his refrigerator magnet collection), I’m not too worried about getting offended by what ever it is our dueling holders of terminal degrees are teasing about.

Hey Andrew, what exactly is a fluffer?

    Oh, the time is 3:16

    I’m glad you asked Ronin.

    From Wikipedia –
A fluffer is a hired member of the crew of a pornographic movie whose role on the set is to sexually arouse the male participants prior to the filming of scenes requiring erections.[1]

Whew, that is good to know.

I was worried that is was some sort of slang for PolyBrominated Diphenyl Ethers or other happy goo used in fluffing.

I still use a fluffer from time to time, but there really is no substitute for a PolyBrominated Diphenyl Ethers. But I don’t need to tell you that.

Are you calling me a flaming retard, Ronin?

I know this isn’t customary but thought I’d break precedent and post a time.

I’m just gonna quote Ronin exactly here, “Whisky is a flaming retard” – Ronin

17:18. That 400 after the squats was brutal. Good work 6 crew.

The 6PM did awesome tonight and it was great to see a larger group!! Some of you asked about some helpful exercises to improve the muscle up and the following should increase your strength if you perform it a few times during each week before the WOD:

In the false grip (wrists act as palms and support the body weight…this is uncomfortable but absolutely necessary) perform 1 ring pull to the sternum or as close as you can to it. (Your focus is to bring your sternum to the rings while getting your body perpendicular to the floor).

After the ring pull exercise, immediately jump into the top of a ring dip (arms fully extended) and slowly lower yourself into the deepest ring dip you can and drive up out of it .

As you become more proficient and your strength increases, increase the reps and the sets. (i.e. 1×1, 3×3, 5×5).

You can also practice the transition (from the top of the ring dip again) by slowly lowering yourself into the deep ring dip position and slowly bring yourself through the transition of the muscle up, controlling your decent down to the floor. Maintaining the false grip is very important and will help you grow accustomed to the feeling of it during this exercise.

Once you guys have built up the strength necessary for the muscle up, everything else should fall into place. You can thank Chris Lofland if you get one…he told me to perform these exercises and that very same week… I had my first muscle up!

Great skill session from Candice on Muscle Ups. She got Andrea just almost there, well past the hard part (I am told).

I’ll bet she could even get Angie doing them. Cool stuff.

Andrew, point of order, I never said or implied that Whisky was “flaming.” That was his word, not mine. He is a great guy who dances to his own drummer, albeit to a rather amorphous beat.

Thanks for all your help Candace. And to Andy, I really, really was just teasing, and was not offended about the Carson remarks at all. Thought it was pretty funny, and glad to know you speak the lingo, even if with a heavy Randian accent.

I just assumed there was some code to all the PolyBrominated Diphenyl Ether talk. It is a flame retardant is it not?

  • March 25, 2010 at 8:38 pm

Exactly, it is used to retard flames in fluffy foam. As opposed say, to being a flaming retard in need of fluffing. Leave it to Whisky to get the poetry.

Actually, LA gets it as well.
