So, I’ve been studying for my big test in June and I thought I would share some things with the group.

I know this is like blasphemy towards the paleo diet, but if you are looking for a great snack that is actually healthy for you try Sun chips. They come in a variety of flavors and what is great about them is the high monounsaturated fat.

So why is monounsaturated fat good for you?

Our bodies will take the excess glucose from our meals and through boring biochemical pathways convert it to fat. But the problem is that the fat it makes is Palmitic Acid. Palmitic acid is a saturated fat and the problem with saturated fats is that the outside layer of all of our cells will become too rigid. Our bodies have no mechanism to desaturate fats so we must get it through our diet. This is where sun chips come in.

Also, for the peanut butter enthusiasts I would recommend Smart Balance PB for its high levels of monounsaturated fat.
