400m Run
15 Overhead Squats (95 lb./65 lb.)

Get to know…..Nick Silvester!

How long have you been a CrossFitter?
Since May of 2009, though I took a 4 month break from CF7 for school.

What is your previous sports/fitness background?
I was a cross country/long distance track runner in high school and didn’t do much in college due to a freak accident in the weight room when I was a freshman.

What is your favorite CrossFit WOD?
Anything with double unders. I spent months working on that skill and now I try to get a good set in every day I crossfit. Also I really like chippers like the dirty dozen and filthy fifty.

Least Favorite?
I would say anything with thrusters.

Your Fran time?
see above

What athlete (CrossFit or otherwise) do you admire most and why?
This may seem like the perfect timing, but I admire Josh Hamilton. He goes to my church and shared his testimony of how Jesus was able to turn his life around and wow what a story of redemption.

What do you hope to accomplish by doing CrossFit?
When my grandchildren are pre-teens I’d love to be able to run around and play with them.

Do you train for a specific purpose (ie, another sport)?
I train so that if an athletic event presents itself I’m ready.

What are your CrossFit goals?
I would like to be the world’s fittest physician one day… This is a very lofty goal for me but I think that if I stick with it I can accomplish this.

Do you paleo or zone?
I’d say I’m a 67% paleo. It’s usually easy for me to get 2/3 of my meals paleo but I have several vices including Chick-Fil-A, Whataburger and cheesecake.

Would you rather do 100 burpees, 100 pullups or 100 squats?
Can I say Push ups? If not I’ll go with pullups.

What do you do when you are not at CrossFit?
I do my best to not look like an idiot in front of my attending physicians.

Lifting shoes of Vibram five fingers?
I’ve been running in five fingers since August of 2009, but I put lifting shoes on my Christmas list.

What is on your favorite CrossFit t-shirt?
Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you. Or Crossift… It’s like meth except you get to keep your teeth.

What do you do for warmup?
I’ll try to hit a good number of DU’s. Then I prepare with stretching and a couple of reps of whatever is on the menu.

What do you do for recovery? How often do you take rest days?
I have found that the 3:1 schedule is great and I have also found that if I take too much rest my recovery suffers when I get back into the gym.

What is the best piece of advice you’d give a new CrossFitter?
Leave your ego at the door. There is no rush. You are going to see some amazing results as long as you stick with it and don’t injure yourself.

What CrossFit certs have you been to or hope to go to?
I should probably start with a level 1 but after that I would love to do football or endurance.

If you could have dinner with three CrossFit all-stars, who would it be?
I’d have to go with Graham Holmberg, Rich Froning Jr. and Chris Spealler. They all seem like very solid guys in the gym and in their faith.

What do you like best about CrossFit Seven?
The community is amazing. It’s such a breath of fresh air after a long day of work.

Any other information you would like the world to know???
I would like everyone to know that if you see me please feel free to ask for some osteopathic type stretching. I brought a table in there for that purpose and would have no problem if someone needs any help.

Nick- Have a fun party on Sunday! I can’t go (taking family pictures that day!)

Road to recovery: rowing, air squats and walking OH-plate carry. Good to start…pullup ladder on Monday was a bad idea 🙂
