30 Clean and Jerk (135 lb./95 lb.)

followed by a short metcon of:
3 rounds of:
10 Pull ups
15 Burpees

Get to know…..David Walters!

How long have you been a CrossFitter? Since Saturday January 16, 2010. Paukune picked me up and made me do this.

What is your previous sports/fitness background? Many sports growing up, mostly soccer and football. In college I switched over to basketball till my mid 30’s. Is golf a sport?

What is your favorite CrossFit WOD? I can’t keep up with the names but I like WODs with sit ups, running, thrusters, wall balls and rowing. Of course these are the exercises I am better at.

Least Favorite? I will not attempt Lullaby. I would go insane trying to finish it.

Your Fran time? Haven’t done it in a while but I think it was 6 something with scaled weight and a rubber band.

What athlete (CrossFit or otherwise) do you admire most and why? I don’t keep up with the main site guys but with the Roosters you have to admire Miles and Brent. The weight Miles moves around is unbelievable and if the WOD were to “run through a wall 6 times”, Brent would do it Rx.

What do you hope to accomplish by doing CrossFit? Feel good and I do.

Do you train for a specific purpose (ie, another sport)? No but my ego likes it when people say “you look great”.

What are your CrossFit goals? All WODs at Rx. I am spending extra time on the pullups and double unders.

Do you paleo or zone? Heard of them but know nothing about them. All this working out stimulates my sweet tooth for some reason. I better not quit because I like dessert.

Would you rather do 100 burpees, 100 pullups or 100 squats? I would love to be able to do a 100 pullups. I have some kipping consultants on retainer.

What do you do when you are not at CrossFit? I wonder when banks are going to start lending again so I can move some commercial real estate, play a bit of tennis and follow a lot of my family’s activities.

Lifting shoes of Vibram five fingers? Love the five fingers.

What is on your favorite CrossFit t-shirt? Only have the Rooster shirt, would love some more creative options.

What do you do for warmup? I am not a fan of the warm up but I do a fair amount of stretching and loosening.

What do you do for recovery? How often do you take rest days? I don’t plan for recovery except on weekends which includes eating anything and some red wine. When Ryan went to 5 Rooster classes a week I went too. If I can make Saturday I will.

What is the best piece of advice you’d give a new CrossFitter? Don’t be intimidated and have no ego early on. No one is watching you. Think long term. The real change happens after 90 days.

What CrossFit certs have you been to or hope to go to? Don’t know. Don’t care. Should I?

If you could have dinner with three CrossFit all-stars, who would it be? I haven’t met anyone I wouldn’t have dinner with at CF7.

What do you like best about CrossFit Seven? I like checking the website at 9:00 pm the night before, thinking about the WOD/weight and building a strategy. I wake up nervous and like it. I have been active all my life but this program along with the people make this a life changer.

Any other information you would like the world to know??? Don’t discuss Longhorn Football with me right now.

    Grace 4:06 65lbs better than Mays time of 4:59.
    I see why Grace comes around once every 6 months.

    4:18 @ 125# and had to rep 27 over due to miss. this was 10 lbs heavier than last time and 50 seconds faster.

    4:58 on metcon with a rubber band on rounds 2 and 3

    4:07 @ 125# (10# more than what I did in May and 2:05 minutes faster)

    Grace 5:08 (95#) pretty sure that was my first Grace.. I was nervous about the weight!

    4:50 Metcon, same pull ups like David, I couldn’t catch my breath from Grace!

    Brent, great time! And you did the Metcon fast too, I was amazed.

    Nice work on the pull ups Amy!

    And Marie! You were looking strong over there, good girl!

    (note to self, text Eric if he’s coming the night before so I don’t sit in the parking lot for 20 min :P)

    Metcon : No pullup bar at the station so I sub 160lbs Lat pull downs – 7:56

    Bo great job on Grace… unfortunately I was not able to match that performance.

    6:58 Rx on Grace… here’s to a baseline

    3:01 on Metcon… one second shy of Miles. Great job man.

    Miles – No fair! Of course you are going to crush the metcon when you make Grace look like a little girl, instead of the mean black widow she is. 😉

    2:43rx for me. 3:13 for Metcon.

    Great group at 5.

    Great Job today Nick.

    Thank you Miles for the coaching on the 88lb. KB swings. I still cannot believe I was able to do them.
