The CrossFit Games Regionals continued this weekend in Canada, Europe, and in the U.S. with both the Mid-Atlantic and Northern California regionals. There was a controversy in the Mid-Atlantic Region with a judge and one of the lead male athletes who was counted on several no-reps. Read the full article here.

Judging on any level of the Games is TOUGH. One of the best comments I read in regards to the judge from the article said, “The bottom line is that the judges are all volunteers, it is a big responsibiliity to have an athlete’s performance in your hands, and you do the absolute best you can to call what you see, while also keeping track of the number of reps (not an easy task in these high volume WODs) and in the middle of absolute bedlam. It takes courage to step out there into the competition arena knowing that there are a thousand “bleacher-seat judges” with their eyes on you as you judge their favorite athlete. All the judges have been told that each region is being evaluated based on how consistently the standards are being adhered to, so are extremely sensitive to what the standard is and whether or not it is being met. Athletes may frequently FEEL as though they are fully extended or overhead or at the right depth, when in fact, they are not.” What do you think? Post thoughts to comments.

Ronin – the bad math must be the 9:00 class or possibly the Wodfather. He has people that do his math.

I will be a judge at this year’s regional. Make sure your team is hitting the standards (especially kb swing and no foot faults on thrusters). The guy in charge is wound pretty tightly if you know what I mean. Had to take a 125 answer test just to have the honor of judging all your asses.
