The story behind the photo: Old Glory is retired from the Smithsonian National Museum of American History by the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (Old Guard) Aug. 7. The same flag was draped over the side of the Pentagon a day after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The flag will never be flown again.
