I’ve been reading “The Kitchen Counter Cooking School”, and it’s fascinating. It’s about this chef that studied at Le Cordon Bleu who watched a lady at the grocery store fill her cart with ultra-processed food. She basically stalks this woman through the store and eventually approaches her to ask her why she was buying all of this junk food. The answer was simple: she didn’t know how to cook.
The book is about the experiences of 9 women this chef recruits to teach them how to prepare good, healthy meals. It’s really interesting why these ladies don’t cook (and it’s often more than they just don’t know how). The book also has really insightful ideas of how to create great dishes and offers a peek into how a trained chef thinks. I learned a lot (like the difference between extra-virgin olive oil and regular olive oil), as well as got several new ideas of things I can cook! It’s a great read, and I would highly recommend it for anyone interested in food and food prep (aka, anyone who eats Paleo!).
